How to track your brand in ChatGPT answers (2026): Profound vs Peec AI vs Otterly vs pay per question
Your customers now ask ChatGPT which tool, agency or product to pick. You want to know if your name comes up. Here is how we would do it, from free to enterprise.
The short answer. Start free, by hand: 10 real buyer questions, 2 or 3 times each. If you then need daily tracking across several AI engines for a team, pick a subscription: Otterly starts at $29/month, Peec AI at €85/month, Profound is custom-priced for enterprises. If you only need a check now and then, a pay-per-question tool costs about 50 cents for 10 questions.
What are the ways to track your brand in ChatGPT?
You can do it by hand for free, or use a tool. Otterly starts at $29/month and Peec AI at €85/month. Profound offers a free trial, then a custom Enterprise price. A pay-per-question tool like ours costs about 50 cents for 10 questions. We read every price on October 19, 2026.
| Option | Entry price | AI engines | Free start | Exports and API | Made for |

How do you check if ChatGPT mentions your brand for free?
Write 10 questions a buyer would type, using your category, not your brand name. Ask each one 2 or 3 times in a fresh chat with web search on. Then note 3 things: are you named, at what position, and which sites are cited. It takes about an hour and costs nothing.
- Write 10 questions a buyer would really type. For example: "best tool to track my brand visibility in ChatGPT", "best alternative to [big competitor]", "cheapest way to [do what you sell]".
- Ask each one 2 or 3 times. Answers move a lot from one run to the next, so one try is not enough.
- Write down 3 things in a spreadsheet: are you mentioned, at what position, and which sites are cited.
The cited sites are your to-do list. If ChatGPT keeps citing the same review site or "best of" article, that page is your first lead: check whether you are on it.
Funny detail: when we asked ChatGPT "how can I check if ChatGPT recommends my business?", it gave the same advice. No official dashboard, test realistic questions, turn search on, write the results down.
Doing it by hand stops working when you want it every week, in several countries, or on more than one AI engine. That is when a tool earns its price.
Profound: what does it cost and who is it for?
Profound has a free trial: 50 prompts run daily for 7 days, on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. After that, it is an Enterprise plan at a custom price, with up to 9 answer engines, CSV and JSON exports, an API, SSO and SOC 2. It fits large marketing teams with a budget.
- Price
- Free trial, then Enterprise at a custom price. No public price for paid plans.

What it does. Profound tracks how your brand and your competitors appear in AI answers, and adds an "AI Marketer", an assistant that researches, writes and reports for your team. Its Agent Analytics feature tracks "AI-sourced traffic and attribution across your domains".
Real strengths. Up to 9 answer engines on Enterprise: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Exa Search. ChatGPT Shopping tracking, data on what people prompt, exports and an API, SSO (one company login) and SOC 2 (a security audit standard).
The trial. 50 prompts (the questions you track) run daily for 7 days, on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, with no history and no exports.
Made for. Large marketing teams with a budget, who want one platform and support. In our own test below, ChatGPT framed Profound as the enterprise pick in 4 of the 6 answers that named it.
Peec AI: pricing, features and who it fits
Peec AI starts at €85/month, or €70/month billed yearly. Starter gives 50 prompts on 3 models you choose, tracked daily, which Peec counts as 4,500 AI answers a month. Every plan has unlimited users. Pro costs €205/month for 150 prompts, Advanced €425/month for 350. It fits SEO and marketing teams.
- Price
- Starter €85/month, Pro €205/month, Advanced €425/month. Billed yearly: €70, €180 and €360 per month. Enterprise: custom. Free trial.

- peec.ai/pricing, read October 19, 2026. The page showed us prices in euros, as we opened it from Europe.
What it does. Daily tracking of a set of prompts across the models you pick: your visibility, position, sentiment and share of voice (how often you are named compared to competitors), plus which sources the AI used.
Real strengths. Unlimited users on every plan, so a whole team can work in it. Source analytics and a "gap analysis" show pages that name your competitors and not you. There is also product-level tracking for AI shopping answers.
Made for. SEO and marketing teams that want daily numbers and a shared dashboard, with room to grow from 50 to 350 prompts.
Otterly: pricing, features and who it fits
Otterly starts at $29/month for 15 prompts, tracked daily on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot. Gemini, Claude and Google AI Mode cost extra. Even Lite includes sentiment, cited sources and unlimited team members. API access starts with Standard, at $189/month for 100 prompts. There is a free trial.
- Price
- Lite $29/month, Standard $189/month, Premium $489/month. 15% off yearly. Enterprise: custom, from 1,000 prompts. Free trial.

Real strengths. A paid plan from $29/month. Even Lite includes brand visibility and sentiment, cited-source tracking, unlimited team members, and audits of your pages. Standard adds API access and MCP access (lets AI assistants plug into the data).
Made for. Solo marketers and small teams who want a daily view on a short list of prompts. Note that Lite gives 15 prompts, so the jump to 100 prompts is $189/month.
Is there a pay-per-question way to track your brand in ChatGPT?
We built this one. Read this section knowing that. We tried to describe it the way we described the others.
Yes. We built one, Brand AI Answers Tracker, on Apify. It costs $0.05 per answered question plus $0.005 per run, so 10 questions cost about 50 cents. You get the full dated answer, the cited sources and your rank against up to 5 competitors. The limits: ChatGPT only, through OpenAI's API rather than the chatgpt.com app, and no dashboard.
- Price
- $0.05 per question answered, plus $0.005 each time you start a run. $0.0475 on the Bronze plan, $0.045 on Silver, $0.0425 on Gold and above. Empty or failed answers are not charged. No subscription.

What it does. You give it your brand, up to 5 competitors and your questions. It asks each question to ChatGPT and gives you back the full dated answer, the sources it cited, and your rank against your competitors, counted by code. You can see a real output of Brand AI Answers Tracker on our home page.
Real strengths. You pay for what you ask. 10 questions cost about 50 cents. You keep the raw answers, so you can read why ChatGPT picked someone else. It runs on Apify, where a free account (no credit card) comes with $5 to spend.
Honest limits. ChatGPT only. It goes through OpenAI's official API with web search on, not the chatgpt.com app, so the answer can differ from what a person sees on screen. No dashboard: you get a table you can export. No sentiment score, no AI traffic tracking.
Per answer, a subscription wins at volume. Peec AI Starter counts 4,500 AI answers a month for €85, so about 1.9 euro cents per answer. Ours costs 5 US cents per answer. If you check every day, a subscription is cheaper. If you check 10 questions once a month, you pay about 50 cents instead.
Made for. Small businesses that want a check every month or so, agencies doing a one-off audit for a client, and anyone who wants the raw answers rather than a score.
Which tools does ChatGPT recommend? Our 10-question test
On October 19, 2026, ChatGPT named Profound and Otterly in 6 of 10 answers each, and Peec AI in 5. Profound was never named first. The most cited source was a review site, techradar.com, not a vendor page. It is one run with one answer per question, so treat it as a hint, not a ranking.
We ran our tool once, on the very market this article covers. Brand: Profound. Competitors: Peec AI, Otterly, Semrush, HubSpot and Ahrefs. 10 buyer questions, one answer each, ChatGPT through the OpenAI API with web search, United States. All 10 answers came back.
| Brand | Named in | Named first in | Average position when named |
|---|---|---|---|
| Profound | 6 of 10 answers | 0 | 2.5 |
| Otterly | 6 of 10 | 3 | 2.2 |
| Peec AI | 5 of 10 | 3 | 1.8 |
| Semrush | 2 of 10 | 0 | 2.0 |
| Ahrefs | 2 of 10 | 1 | 2.5 |
| HubSpot | 0 of 10 | 0 | none |
What we learned:
- Profound shows up as often as Otterly, but the answers often frame it as the enterprise pick: 4 of the 6 answers that named it. One said, word for word: "Choose Profound if you’re an enterprise team".
- The most cited source was a review site, techradar.com, cited 4 times across 3 of the 10 answers. Not a vendor's own page.
- ChatGPT read far more than it cited. It consulted 18 to 45 pages per answer but cited only 1 to 4 of them.
- ChatGPT quoted Profound prices we did not find on Profound's pricing page. One answer listed a $99/month Starter plan and a $399/month Growth plan. On October 19, 2026, that page showed only a free trial and a custom Enterprise plan. AI answers can carry stale facts, so check the vendor's page before you buy.
- We were not in the answer to our own question. To "is there a pay as you go AI visibility tracker without a monthly subscription", ChatGPT suggested IndexHalo and MentionChecker, which sell credit packs. We did not check their prices, so we do not list them here.
- Cost of the test: 10 questions plus 1 run start, $0.505 at the public price.
It is a small sample: one run, one answer per question. To trust a trend, ask the same questions 2 or 3 times, and again a few weeks later.
Which option should you choose?
Start free, by hand, to see if you have a problem at all. For a check now and then on ChatGPT, a pay-per-question tool is enough. For daily tracking of a few prompts on a small budget, pick Otterly Lite. For a team dashboard on 50 prompts or more, Peec AI. For many engines, SSO and support, Profound.
- You don't know yet if you have a problem: the free method above.
- You want a check now and then, on ChatGPT: a pay-per-question tool like ours.
- You want daily tracking on a few prompts, on a small budget: Otterly Lite.
- Your team wants a shared dashboard on 50 prompts or more, on 3 models: Peec AI.
- You are a large brand that needs many engines, SSO and support: Profound.
We also build other data tools, each priced per useful result.
Questions people ask
How can I check if ChatGPT mentions my brand?
Ask ChatGPT the questions your buyers really type, using your category, not your brand name. Ask each one 2 or 3 times in a fresh chat with web search on. Write down if you are named, at what position, and which sites are cited. When we asked ChatGPT a near-identical question, it gave the same advice.
How much does it cost to track your brand in ChatGPT?
It ranges from free to custom pricing. By hand, it costs nothing. On October 19, 2026, Otterly started at $29/month, Peec AI at €85/month (€70/month billed yearly), and Profound had a free trial, then custom Enterprise pricing. Our pay-per-question tool costs $0.05 per answer, about 50 cents for 10 questions.
What is the cheapest way to track brand mentions in ChatGPT?
By hand, it is free and takes about an hour for 10 questions. Of the 3 subscriptions we checked, the cheapest was Otterly Lite at $29/month for 15 prompts tracked daily. For an occasional check, a pay-per-question tool costs about 50 cents for 10 questions. If you check every day, a subscription costs less per answer.
Profound or Peec AI: which one should I pick?
Pick Peec AI if your team wants daily numbers in a shared dashboard: 50 prompts on 3 models from €85/month, with unlimited users. Pick Profound if you are a large brand that needs up to 9 answer engines, SSO and SOC 2, on a custom Enterprise plan. In our test, ChatGPT framed Profound as the enterprise pick in 4 of the 6 answers that named it.
Why can a tool's results differ from what I see on chatgpt.com?
Tools that use OpenAI's API with web search, like ours, get an answer that can differ from what a person sees on chatgpt.com. Answers also change from one run to the next. So ask each question 2 or 3 times, and again a few weeks later, before you trust a trend.
Which sites does ChatGPT cite when it recommends tools?
In our 10-question test, ChatGPT consulted 18 to 45 pages per answer but cited only 1 to 4 of them. The most cited site was techradar.com, a review site, cited 4 times across 3 answers. So check the review pages ChatGPT cites in your category: if you are missing from them, that is your first lead.
Try the 10-question check

Open Brand AI Answers Tracker on ApifyHow we tested and sourced this article
We read every price on the vendor's own pricing page on October 19, 2026. We ran our own tool once that day, on 10 buyer questions, in the United States: Apify run LbimDCbkHfwpg5sxD. We are not affiliated with Profound, Peec AI, Otterly or OpenAI, and nobody paid for a mention. Edith, our AI research agent, read the pricing pages and ran the test. Jordan, the founder, reviewed and approved the article before it went live.
